Spring
Garden Tips
|
Are you ready for Spring? Personally, I'm excited. I
believe I enjoy the season of Spring the best. It's an
exciting time. Neighbors venture outside again, and we can see new
growth in and around our yard and garden. Windows are
being opened once again for the smell of fresh air.
Spring
can be viewed as a new beginning. But before we can enjoy this
season, numerous chores are needed to be accomplished. Let's
discuss our chore checklist
-
Check your tools and equipment.
Do they need repair, sharpening or cleaning? Check your lawnmower.
Does it run properly? Does the blade need sharpening? Obtain
any replacement parts now, before they are gone from the store's shelves.
Determine that all your equipment is running properly and efficiently.
Get repairs done now before the rush.
-
Clean and/or replace prunners,
shears, loppers if necessary.
-
Discard any old and outdated
chemicals properly.
-
Check any damaged trees,
shrubs, etc. Prune if necessary.
-
Remove debris from winter's
weather.
-
Fertilize and mulch in
and around plant beds, shrubs and trees. Mulch will hold needed moisture
through the seasons.
-
Access your weed population
in the lawn. Check with you extension agent or a qualified garden
center for life cycles and effective controls of weed problems.
-
Check out all our
garden tips brochures for pertinent information. FYI

-
Finally, take a trip to
your local nursery. Discuss with the staff any lawn and garden questions
that you may have. Go and enjoy exploring all the new plant material
that has arrived.
-
Plan your garden,
and enjoy Spring!
